Court Suit Challenges CCB’s Refusal to Release Peter Obi Asset Declaration Records

A legal action has been filed against the Code of Conduct Bureau and other respondents over an alleged refusal to provide certified copies of asset declaration documents relating to former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.

The case, identified in the supplied report as FHC/ABJ/CS/2504/2026, was brought by Labour Party figure Abayomi Arabambi. His lawyer, Oshoke Asimegbe, notified the bureau’s chairman of the proceedings in a letter dated October 30, 2026.

According to the claimant, requests made in August and October sought asset declaration records submitted by Obi in connection with his tenure as governor from 2006 to 2014.

The suit reportedly asks the Federal High Court in Abuja to determine whether the requests fall within the Freedom of Information Act and whether the bureau’s stated reasons for declining access were lawful.

Among the remedies sought is an order compelling the bureau to provide the requested records. The case concerns access to documents; the filing itself does not establish misconduct by Obi or determine what the declarations contain.

The supplied report does not include the bureau’s full response, the filed court processes or any judicial decision. The suit number, reliefs sought and status of proceedings should be confirmed from the court record before publication.
