President Bola Tinubu has performed the Umrah pilgrimage in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, offering prayers for Nigeria’s peace, national unity and sustainable development.
The President performed the spiritual exercise early Friday at the Grand Mosque, Masjid al-Haram, where he circumambulated the Holy Kaaba in worship and thanksgiving to Almighty Allah.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to perform the pilgrimage and prayed for continued guidance and protection for Nigeria and its people.
Speaking to journalists after the exercise, the President described the Umrah as significant to his commitment to Nigeria and the responsibilities of leadership.
“I believe this Umrah is very significant for the love of our people, commitment to the job and our country, Nigeria; commitment to the will of Allah that His words must prevail, and that there’s no other God but Him and He’s the only one that makes a human being what he can be and what he would be in life,” he said.
Tinubu said he had prayed for Nigerians to live in peace, harmony and happiness, while maintaining faith in God.
“I am grateful to Allah for being able to perform this Umrah. We have just prayed for our nation, for everyone to live in peace and harmony, happiness and faith in God Almighty,” he added.
The President also prayed for wisdom for the country’s leaders, stronger bonds of brotherhood among Nigerians and lasting solutions to insecurity and other national challenges.
He expressed hope that Nigeria would continue to make progress in economic prosperity, social development and security.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a peaceful, united and prosperous country where citizens, irrespective of their religious or ethnic backgrounds, could live in safety and dignity.
