Court Orders Uzodinma to Stop Claiming APC Ticket for Imo West, Directs INEC to Publish Okorocha’s Name

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma to stop parading himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu issued the order in a judgment in which he held that Uzodinma did not win the APC primary election conducted on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The judge ruled that evidence presented before the court established that former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast during the primary.

Consequently, the court directed the APC to submit Okorocha’s name as its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections.

The judgment also ordered INEC to publish Okorocha’s name as the party’s candidate for the senatorial election.

The ruling settles the dispute over who emerged as the APC candidate for the Imo West senatorial contest, with the election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
