Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has signed five bills into law, including the Thirteenth Month Salary Law, 2026, aimed at improving workers’ welfare.
The governor signed the bills at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House in Asaba.
Oborevwori described the development as part of his administration’s commitment to implementing reforms under its MORE Agenda.
The five laws are the Delta State Revenue Service (Consolidation) Law, 2026; the Thirteenth Month Salary Law, 2026; the Public and Private Properties Protection (Amendment) Law; the High Court Law; and the Customary Court of Appeal Law (Amendment).
The governor said the Thirteenth Month Salary Law was designed to boost workers’ morale, recognise their contributions and improve productivity across the state’s public service.
The measure introduces a statutory framework for the additional salary payment, although details regarding its implementation and eligibility were not provided in the announcement.
Presenting the bills for assent, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, said the legislation had been passed in the interest of the people and the state’s development.
Representatives of the judiciary and the Ministry of Justice attended the signing ceremony.
The enactment of the five laws marks a further step in the state government’s legislative and administrative reform agenda.
