ADC Campaign Council Urges Nigerians to Collect PVCs, Rejects Claims Votes Will Not Count

The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council has asked eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards and participate in the 2027 general elections, insisting that public confidence and voter turnout are essential to electoral accountability.

In a statement issued by its media director, Kola Ologbondiyan, the council disputed suggestions that the governing All Progressives Congress could simply determine election results regardless of voting. It alleged that such claims were being circulated to discourage participation, although it provided no independent evidence identifying those responsible.

The council pointed to the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, the INEC Result Viewing Portal and provisions of the electoral law as safeguards that could help citizens scrutinise the process. It also called on traditional institutions, religious organisations, youth groups and civil society to support PVC collection.

Ologbondiyan said the ADC, whose presidential candidate he identified as Atiku Abubakar, intended to deploy agents across polling units to observe voting and protect its interests. The party’s assurances about the integrity of the election are campaign positions, not an independent assessment of INEC’s readiness.
