Ambassador Ita Enang calls for expanded cooperation in technology, healthcare, engineering, vocational education and lawful skilled migration.
Nigeria has proposed closer cooperation with Germany to connect qualified Nigerian professionals with labour market opportunities while expanding investment and technical partnerships between the two countries.
Nigeria’s ambassador to Germany, Ita Enang, outlined the opportunities in Berlin during activities marking the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1, 2026.
Enang said Germany’s advanced industrial base and demand for skilled personnel could complement Nigeria’s growing population of trained young people in medicine, engineering, technology, education and the creative industries.
He advocated migration through appropriate legal and employment channels, alongside partnerships in vocational training and the development of specialist skills. He said Nigeria was adapting parts of its education system to strengthen professional competence, entrepreneurship and technical capacity.
The envoy also called for deeper bilateral engagement in renewable energy, infrastructure, innovation, education, creative industries and circular migration arrangements that could benefit workers and institutions in both countries.
Describing Germany as a valued development partner, Enang said the relationship had expanded over time through trade, investment, energy transition and educational exchanges. He encouraged further cooperation to build economic resilience and strengthen links between businesses.
He commended Nigerians living in Germany and elsewhere in Europe for their contributions and urged them to respect local laws while maintaining constructive ties with their home country.
Enang reaffirmed Nigeria’s support for international cooperation through the United Nations, African Union, World Trade Organisation and African Continental Free Trade Area. He closed by expressing hope for stronger relations between Nigeria and Germany.
