John Boyega Reveals Secret Marriage, Announces Baby Boy on the Way

British-Nigerian actor John Boyega has revealed that he has been married for nearly two years and is expecting a baby boy, offering fans a rare glimpse into his private family life.

The award-winning actor made the disclosure in an interview with The Guardian published on October 4, where he opened up about his marriage, growing family, and his participation in a BBC Two documentary about the tragic killing of his childhood friend, Damilola Taylor.

Speaking about the wedding ring he has recently been seen wearing, Boyega confirmed that he has been married for almost two years.

“I’ve been married for coming up to two years now,” he said.

The actor explained that he and his wife opted for a small wedding ceremony but expressed a desire to host a larger celebration in the future.

“I would love to have a wedding celebration. We both like the idea of celebrating something established, rather than celebrating the entry. And by then, we’ll have to shut Nigeria down!” he said.

Boyega also announced that he and his wife are expecting a baby boy. He noted that he already has a young stepson and is looking forward to welcoming a new addition to the family.

“My baby’s on the way. We got a baby cooking,” he said.

Reflecting on his growing family, the actor described this stage of his life as deeply fulfilling.

“So, you know, my life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family. It’s been so nice with the timing,” he added.

As he prepares for fatherhood again, Boyega emphasized the importance of being present and supportive in his children’s lives.

“Us being parents is funny! I just want to make sure I’m present, I’m consistent, and full of love,” he said.

The Star Wars star also revealed that his priorities have shifted in recent years, with family life taking precedence over career ambitions.

“I’ve tried to as much as possible, especially following periods when I’ve worked a lot, to de-centre my career,” Boyega said.

“There have been certain moments when I’ve known that this is a time for family. Y’know, there’s stuff to do.”

Known for keeping his personal life largely out of the spotlight, Boyega rose to international fame in 2015 for his role as Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, before reprising the character in subsequent films of the franchise. He has also starred in major productions including Pacific Rim: Uprising and The Woman King.

His comments on family came during a discussion about a BBC Two documentary focusing on the 2000 murder of Damilola Taylor in London. Boyega, who was eight years old at the time, recalled being among the last people to see Taylor alive before the tragic incident.

Reflecting on revisiting the painful memories for the documentary, the actor said discussing the experience could help him process the loss.

“Speaking about it could possibly help. I haven’t revisited this in a long time. Yeah, my heart is just beating,” he said.

The revelation marks one of Boyega’s most personal public disclosures to date, as the actor embraces married life and prepares to welcome a baby boy while balancing family commitments with his successful film career.
