Remi Tinubu Launches Nationwide Women Mobilization for APC Ahead of 2027

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress Presidential Women Campaign Council and charged women across Nigeria to build a grassroots mobilization structure for President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking in Abuja, the First Lady said existing women support organizations had been brought under a single campaign structure to coordinate political activities from the presidential contest to governorship, National Assembly and state assembly elections.

She said the campaign would include six zonal rallies, state level events and a final national gathering in Abuja. She and the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, are expected to participate in zonal activities, while other senior party figures and spouses of political office holders would support mobilization in the states.

Mrs Tinubu urged women to return to their communities and present the administration’s record to voters. She argued that the government’s economic programme was moving from an initial reform phase towards improved stability and prosperity, citing foreign reserves, investment, agricultural support and the student loan programme among areas of progress.

Those claims form part of the APC’s campaign case as Nigerians continue to debate the impact of the administration’s reforms on household incomes, inflation and the cost of living.

APC National Women Leader Mary Alile Idele said the campaign structure would strengthen networks across wards and local governments and connect women with empowerment programmes. She called for measurable political organization rather than mobilization without clear responsibilities.

Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim urged participants to work as a unified team and ensure that government policies translated into tangible benefits for families and communities.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals Adejoke Orelope Adefulire asked each participant to mobilize at least 100 women in her community.

Presidential Campaign Council Director General Abdulaziz Yari said women would play a major role in the APC’s electoral strategy and pledged the council’s support for their nationwide activities.

Kwara State First Lady Olufolake Abdulrazaq, speaking for the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum, said governors’ wives were prepared to participate in the campaign across the states and geopolitical zones.

Nana Shettima highlighted programmes under the Renewed Hope Initiative for students, women, older Nigerians and persons with disabilities and urged campaign participants to take information about the interventions back to their communities.

The wives of the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives also pledged support for the mobilization drive. The new structure is expected to focus on all 774 local government areas as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections.
