The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced plans to personally launch and lead President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the declaration on Friday while addressing journalists after inspecting the ongoing dualisation of the Phase II Kuje-Gwagwalada Road project, which is expected to improve connectivity between Kuje and Gwagwalada Area Councils.
According to the minister, political supporters of the president and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have concluded preparations to begin campaign activities across the FCT.
“For us who are supporting Mr. President, we have put all our machinery ready to fully kick-start. Very soon, I will launch the campaign team for Mr. President in FCT, and I will lead the campaign for him in the territory,” Wike said.
The minister expressed confidence in the APC’s electoral prospects in the FCT, maintaining that ongoing infrastructure projects and improved governance would translate into electoral support for President Tinubu and other APC candidates.
He argued that visible development projects remain the strongest campaign tool, citing the enthusiasm displayed by residents during the inspection tour.
Wike also commended construction firm Gilmor Engineering for the pace of work on the road project and assured the contractor of adequate funding to complete the project by December.
The FCT minister further thanked President Tinubu for supporting the ongoing infrastructure drive in the capital city, noting that residents have responded positively to the administration’s interventions.
According to him, the administration’s focus on improving roads and public infrastructure has boosted public confidence and strengthened support for the government.
