Atiku Brokers Truce in Jigawa ADC, Orders Factions to Withdraw Court Cases

African Democratic Congress presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has intervened in the internal crisis within the party’s Jigawa State chapter, directing rival factions to withdraw pending court cases and work together ahead of the 2027 elections.

The directive followed a reconciliation meeting involving the two camps, after which the parties agreed to maintain the status quo and accept the list of candidates published by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

ADC North-West Organising Secretary Ali Tukur said the meeting was chaired by Atiku and attended by National Chairman David Mark and other senior party leaders.

The rival camps are led by the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sabo Nakudu, and Bashir Jimbo.

Tukur said both leaders signed an agreement to end their legal disputes.

One case filed by Nakudu’s camp reportedly challenged the list of candidates uploaded to the INEC portal, including the governorship running mate and some legislative candidates.

The Jimbo faction, in turn, had challenged Nakudu’s eligibility, alleging irregularities in the primary election that produced him.

Tukur said the reconciliation reflected the party leadership’s effort to resolve competing interests before the general election.

He quoted Atiku as emphasizing that political disagreements were normal but that a party’s strength depended on its ability to reconcile and unite around shared objectives.

The settlement, if fully implemented by the parties, would remove a major source of internal litigation within the Jigawa ADC structure.
