Tim Westwood Faces Two Additional Sexual Offence Charges, Bringing Total to 17

Former BBC Radio 1 and Capital Xtra DJ Tim Westwood has been charged with two additional sexual offences, bringing the total number of charges against him to 17.

The Metropolitan Police said the latest charges relate to alleged non-recent incidents involving two women in London. Westwood, 68, is accused of indecently assaulting a girl aged between 16 and 17 in the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham in 1991. He is also charged with sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman in Wandsworth in 2004.

The new allegations come in addition to 15 charges filed against the veteran broadcaster in October 2025. Those charges involve seven women and include four counts of rape, alongside multiple counts of indecent assault and sexual assault.

Westwood has consistently denied allegations of rape and sexual misconduct. He pleaded not guilty to the earlier charges during a court appearance in December 2025.

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy of the Metropolitan Police said the force remained committed to supporting the women who had come forward with allegations.

“The women who have made reports have placed their trust in us, and we remain committed to providing them with all available support,” Furphy said.

He also noted that independent support services remain available through Rape Crisis and its 24-hour Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Westwood is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court at a later date to answer the two additional charges.

Meanwhile, his trial over the original 15 counts is scheduled to commence at Southwark Crown Court on January 25, 2027.

Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London, Catherine P. Baccas, confirmed that prosecutors had authorised the latest charges following a review of evidence submitted by investigators.

She stated that Westwood is already facing nine counts of indecent assault, two counts of sexual assault and four counts of rape linked to alleged incidents said to have occurred between 1983 and 2016 involving seven women.

Baccas explained that the two new charges stem from separate complaints involving two additional women and relate to alleged incidents in 1991 and 2004.

“Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring these additional charges to court and that it is in the public interest to pursue further criminal proceedings,” she said.

She also reminded the public that criminal proceedings remain active and that the defendant is entitled to a fair trial.

The case continues to draw significant attention in the United Kingdom, where Westwood was once one of the country’s most prominent radio and hip-hop personalities. The courts will determine the outcome of the allegations as legal proceedings progress.
