Traffic authorities are deploying extra personnel around the First Niger Bridge ahead of its closure for emergency repairs, running from Monday, September 7, through Monday, September 21.
The bridge,a key link between Anambra and Delta states is being shut on orders from the Federal Ministry of Works so crews can carry out maintenance. The Anambra FRSC command has already surveyed alternative routes with ministry officials, and is directing drivers toward the Second Niger Bridge via detours through Nkpor/Old Road/Obosi, the Onitsha–Owerri Road from Upper Iweka, and the Atani Road through Uga Junction.
