Osimhen Scores, Suffers Injury as Galatasaray Edge Başakşehir 3-2

Nigeria international Victor Osimhen continued his impressive scoring run for Galatasaray on Friday, finding the net in their dramatic 3-2 away victory over Istanbul Başakşehir in the Turkish Super Lig.

Osimhen opened the scoring for the Turkish champions in the 16th minute, once again proving decisive in front of goal.

However, his evening was cut short in the 30th minute after he picked up an injury and was substituted, raising concerns over his fitness ahead of Galatasaray’s upcoming fixtures.

Başakşehir eventually drew level in the 66th minute after Eldor Shomurodov converted a penalty to make it 1-1.

Galatasaray responded just five minutes later, with Luca Toré restoring the visitors’ advantage.

The hosts refused to surrender and levelled the contest again in the 77th minute through Şahin, setting up a tense finale.

Galatasaray ultimately snatched all three points in dramatic fashion when Şahin scored again in the 90th minute to complete the 3-2 comeback victory.

While Galatasaray celebrated a hard-fought win on the road, the major concern for the club and Nigerian football fans will be the extent of Osimhen’s injury.

Further medical examinations are expected to determine the severity of the injury and whether the Super Eagles forward will be fit for Galatasaray’s forthcoming matches.
