President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the recent mass abduction and killing of Nigerians in Niger State, directing security and intelligence agencies to immediately launch a coordinated operation to rescue the victims.
The President ordered the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant security agencies to work together to secure the release of those abducted and bring the perpetrators to justice.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed outrage over the attack, describing those responsible as “enemies of peace and enemies of humanity.”
“Those who carried out this cowardly attack on defenceless Nigerians are enemies of peace and enemies of humanity, who will not go scot-free,” the President said.
Tinubu commiserated with the families of those killed in the attack, assuring them that the Federal Government was committed to recovering the abducted victims.
“You are not alone. The entire nation shares your anguish. We will not rest until your sons, daughters, mothers and fathers are brought back safely to you,” he said.
The President also directed the Service Chiefs to provide him with regular updates on the progress of the rescue operation until all the abducted persons are accounted for.
He vowed that the government would not allow terrorism and criminality to intimidate Nigerians or undermine the security of communities.
“Terror will not cow Nigeria. We will defend our people, protect our communities, and uphold the sanctity of human life,” Tinubu said.
The President assured the people of Niger State of the Federal Government’s support, saying additional assistance would be provided to strengthen security operations, facilitate recovery and provide relief to affected communities.
He also prayed for the repose of the souls of those killed and for strength for their families as they cope with the loss.
