Akpabio and First Lady Urge Peace and Unity at Eid El Maulud

Senate President Godswill Akpabio and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu have urged Nigerians to use the Eid El Maulud celebration to promote peace, unity and religious tolerance.

In separate messages marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad, both leaders called on Muslim faithful to reflect on the values of compassion, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence.

Oluremi Tinubu said the occasion should strengthen national unity and renew hope among Nigerians.

She encouraged Muslims to reflect the virtues associated with the Prophet in their homes, communities and public life.

Akpabio also called for special prayers for peace, security, economic prosperity and national progress.

His message urged Nigerians to embrace love, forgiveness and mutual respect regardless of religious or ethnic background.

The Senate President described Nigeria’s diversity as a potential source of strength rather than division.

He said the country needed prayers and responsible conduct from religious leaders and citizens at a time of economic and security challenges.

Akpabio also reaffirmed the commitment of the National Assembly to legislation aimed at protecting religious freedom, promoting national cohesion and improving public welfare.

The messages placed unity and peaceful coexistence at the centre of this year’s Eid El Maulud observance.
