Two youth organizations in Kwara State have praised President Bola Tinubu over the establishment of a new Nigerian Army formation in Ilorin, describing it as a major security and economic opportunity for the state.
The Coalition of Kwara Youth Organizations and the Arewa Youth Assembly organized a peaceful march through parts of Ilorin to support the development.
Coalition coordinator Ibrahim Saadu said the new military formation could improve security, create jobs and strengthen investor confidence.
He argued that a larger Army presence would also support faster response to security threats in Kwara and neighboring areas.
Arewa Youth Assembly spokesman Aliyu Muhammad described the development as a strategic security decision.
He said the formation could strengthen command and control, border security and protection of critical infrastructure.
The groups also praised the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff.
Their comments represent the position of the organizations and do not constitute an independent assessment of the security or economic impact of the new formation.
The youth groups said they expected the military presence to contribute to greater stability and development in the state.
The march was also framed as a public expression of support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.
