Police Honour 10 Fallen SIS Officers Killed in Kebbi Bandit Operation

The Nigeria Police Force on Monday held a memorial service in honour of 10 officers of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) who were killed in an encounter with suspected bandits in Kebbi State.

The service took place at the Force Headquarters in Abuja and brought together senior police officers, colleagues and families of the deceased to pay tribute to the fallen personnel.

The officers lost their lives on August 10 during a confrontation with a heavily armed group of suspected bandits along the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area in Kebbi State. They were part of a team deployed to confront the armed group, which was reportedly moving between Zamfara and Kebbi states.

According to the Police, the encounter inflicted significant losses on the attackers. The SIS personnel fought with courage and determination in defence of lives, property and national security.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, described the deceased officers as gallant personnel who paid the supreme price in the service of the nation. He expressed the condolences of the Nigeria Police Force to the bereaved families and assured them of the Force’s continued support, stressing that the sacrifices of their loved ones would not be forgotten.
