NDPHC Praises NPA for Helping Recover Abandoned Power Equipment at Ports

The Niger Delta Power Holding Company has commended the Nigerian Ports Authority for helping recover power sector equipment that had remained abandoned at seaports.

NDPHC Managing Director Jennifer Adighije said the intervention prevented significant financial losses and saved the company several billions of naira.

She made the remarks during a management visit to NPA headquarters in Lagos.

Adighije said the engagement was also intended to strengthen cooperation between the two organisations.

The NDPHC relies on imported equipment for several electricity infrastructure projects, making efficient port clearance important to project schedules and costs.

The company said delayed or abandoned cargo could increase storage charges, expose equipment to deterioration and slow construction work.

Adighije thanked NPA Managing Director Abubakar Dantsoho and his team for facilitating the recovery of the cargoes from different seaports.

She said continued collaboration between energy and maritime institutions could remove logistical bottlenecks affecting critical infrastructure.

Dantsoho said the NPA remained willing to support partnerships that contributed to national development.

He praised NDPHC’s role in expanding Nigeria’s power infrastructure and said the authority would remain open to further engagement.

The two organisations said closer inter agency cooperation could reduce delays in the movement of equipment needed for electricity projects.

The episode also highlights how port logistics can directly affect the cost and timing of infrastructure development.
