Dangote Cement Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to youth development and sustainability through a new round of empowerment and innovation activities at its Obajana operations in Kogi State.
The company marked International Youth Day with a programme involving more than 100 participants.
Those who took part included sustainability champions, graduate trainees, management trainees, National Youth Service Corps members and other invited guests.
The event provided young participants with an opportunity to present ideas, exchange knowledge and explore practical responses to workplace and sustainability challenges.
Presentations covered recycling, environmental sustainability and technology based solutions.
One of the ideas examined the use of drones to improve safety in mining operations.
Head of Human Assets Management and Administration Adeniyi Azeez praised the participants for their creativity and encouraged them to continue building professional skills.
He urged young employees and trainees to embrace innovation and make use of opportunities that could improve their careers and personal development.
Head of Social Performance Ademola Adeyemi said youth participation was important to building a more sustainable future.
He encouraged participants to remain engaged in sustainability, responsible leadership and community development.
The event also featured innovation pitches, poetry, music, interactive sessions and games.
A documentary on previous International Youth Day activities was shown as part of the programme.
Participants said the sessions improved their confidence, public speaking skills and interest in sustainability related projects.
Dangote Cement said the programme formed part of its wider approach to youth empowerment, workplace development and social investment. The company said young people could become important drivers of practical innovation when they were given the right platforms, mentorship and opportunity
