Former Kano State Governor and presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has called on Nigerians to support the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Kwankwaso made the call in a message to Nigerians to mark the commencement of the 2027 presidential campaign, urging citizens to reflect on the state of the country and the kind of nation they want to leave for future generations.
He said Nigeria was at a critical crossroads, with millions of citizens facing economic hardship arising from rising food prices and the increasing cost of essential goods.
According to him, millions of young Nigerians are searching for meaningful employment and opportunities, while businesses continue to contend with high operating costs and an uncertain economic environment.
Kwankwaso raises concerns over insecurity
The former governor also expressed concern over the security situation across the country, saying terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of violence had continued to threaten communities and livelihoods.
He said farmers needed adequate security to return to their farms, while children deserved safe schools and every Nigerian should be able to live without fear.
Kwankwaso also called for urgent investment in education and healthcare, as well as improvements in infrastructure and stronger public institutions.
He stressed the need for greater transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.
‘Our partnership is about Nigeria’
Despite the challenges facing the country, Kwankwaso said Nigeria had the people, resources and potential required to build a prosperous and secure nation.
He said what was needed was leadership with the competence, courage and commitment to prioritise the interests of Nigerians.
“This is why I have chosen to work with His Excellency, Peter Obi, on the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket,” he said.
Kwankwaso said the partnership was not based on regional, religious or personal interests, but was focused on addressing Nigeria’s challenges and improving the lives of citizens.
“Our partnership is not about region, religion or personal ambition. It is about Nigeria,” he said.
He said the alliance envisioned a country where government serves the people, hard work is rewarded, young Nigerians can build successful futures within the country and citizens have equal opportunities to prosper.
Kwankwaso urges peaceful campaign
Kwankwaso appealed to young Nigerians, women, workers, farmers, entrepreneurs and professionals to join the political movement and support efforts aimed at rebuilding the country.
He urged Nigerians to move beyond divisive politics and focus on issues affecting their daily lives, while demanding accountability, competence and measurable results from public officials.
According to him, the 2027 election presents Nigerians with an opportunity to choose a new direction for the country.
He therefore called on citizens to support the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket and other NDC candidates across the country.
Kwankwaso also urged politicians and their supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and responsibly, with the national interest placed above personal and partisan considerations.
“Together, we can build a stronger nation and Nigeria will be OK,” he said.
