Fubara Begins Inauguration of 10 Major Projects across Rivers

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is beginning a two week programme to inaugurate 10 major projects across the state, covering roads, healthcare, education and other public infrastructure.

Secretary to the State Government Dagogo Wokoma said the ceremonies would run from August 17 to August 31, 2026.

The programme begins with the Buguma Degema Abonnema Road, which serves communities in Asari Toru, Degema and Akuku Toru Local Government Areas.

The Egwi Afara Mba Road in Etche is also scheduled for inauguration, followed by internal roads in Omademe, Ikwerre.

Another project on the list is the new Air Force Base runway in Port Harcourt.

The administration will also inaugurate the Elele Egbeda Omoku Dual Carriageway, which connects Ikwerre, Emohua and Ogba Egbema Ndoni areas.

Educational projects include the Captain Elechi Polytechnic Entrepreneurship Centre and Engineering Faculty Building at Rumuola.

Other completed works include the Agba Ndele Road and Bridge, the new zonal hospital in Omoku, the Neuro Psychiatric Hospital and new General Hospital at Rumuigbo, and Bonny National Grammar School.

Wokoma described the projects as evidence of the government’s effort to translate public spending into visible improvements in communities.

He said contractors, public officials and host communities had contributed to bringing the projects to completion.

Residents were encouraged to participate in the inauguration programme and support the administration’s wider development agenda.

The government said the projects were part of its attempt to spread infrastructure across the state’s 23 local government areas rather than concentrate development in a few urban centres.
