The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected by registered voters in Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

According to the commission, Osun has a total of 2,339,233 registered voters, meaning the collected PVCs represent 81.50 per cent of registered voters in the state.

In a statement issued by the National Commissioner and Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the commission said the remaining 426,842 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent, had been securely deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in line with established procedures.

INEC also disclosed that some registered voters whose cards were damaged, defaced or lost applied for replacement.

The commission said 6,101 applicants who requested replacement of their PVCs printed downloadable copies of the cards.

It added that the detailed breakdown of collected PVCs by polling unit had been published on its official website for public access and verification.

INEC assured political parties, civil society organisations, the media and residents of Osun State of its readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election.

The Osun State governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
