Former President Goodluck Jonathan has toured facilities upgraded by the Bauchi State Government at Yankari Game Reserve.
Governor Bala Mohammed led Jonathan through key parts of the reserve during the former president’s visit to Bauchi.
The inspection covered infrastructure intended to improve tourism, visitor experience and the long term sustainability of the reserve.
Among the facilities inspected was a new 500 KVA solar power installation designed to provide more reliable electricity.
The delegation also visited the refurbished Yankari Museum, where improvements have been made to preserve and display the area’s historical and natural heritage.
Jonathan and the governor toured the Wikki Warm Springs, one of the reserve’s best known attractions.
The state government said the rehabilitation programme was aimed at repositioning Yankari as a modern tourism destination.
Officials expect improved facilities to attract more visitors, generate economic activity and strengthen Bauchi’s tourism sector.
The inspection formed part of activities during Jonathan’s visit to the state.
