Security agencies recorded a series of operations in Enugu, Borno and Kogi states involving the arrest of a suspected kidnapping commander, the repulsion of an insurgent assault and the rescue of abducted passengers.
In Enugu, troops of Operation Udo Ka and operatives of the Department of State Services arrested a suspected kidnapping syndicate commander during an intelligence led operation.
Authorities said four assault rifles, seven magazines and 133 rounds of ammunition were recovered from a forest hideout.
The operation followed investigations into the kidnapping of two people in Udi Local Government Area.
Security forces said earlier arrests produced intelligence that helped locate the fleeing commander and a concealed arms cache.
Cash and other items were also recovered, while further interrogation was continuing.
In Borno State, troops of Operation Hadin Kai repelled an attack by Islamic State West Africa Province fighters on a Forward Operating Base in Gajiram.
The military said the attackers withdrew after suffering casualties.
Weapons, ammunition and communication equipment were recovered, although some soldiers were injured and military equipment was damaged during the confrontation.
In Kogi State, security forces rescued 15 passengers abducted from a commercial bus along the Itobe Anyigba corridor.
Police said a joint team involving the Army, Department of State Services, Civil Defence and local security groups engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle.
Several suspects were reported killed while others escaped.
One vigilante member died during the operation and a police officer sustained gunshot injuries.
Authorities said follow up operations were continuing against the remaining members of the criminal groups.
