A total of 163 people rescued after the February 3 attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have arrived in Ilorin after spending about six months in captivity.
The victims were freed on August 5 following sustained operations by security forces and were transported from Niger State to the Kwara capital.
They were received at the Nigerian Army 2 Division headquarters at Sobi Barracks before being moved to an undisclosed location for further care and assessment.
The abduction followed a deadly assault on Woro community in which armed attackers killed residents and took many others into the forest.
The incident triggered widespread concern and led to intensified security operations aimed at locating the captives and dismantling the groups responsible.
Authorities are expected to formally hand the rescued victims over to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq after completing verification and medical procedures.
Their return represents a major breakthrough in efforts to secure the release of those abducted during the attack.
