The Nigerian Export Promotion Council has dismissed reports that its workers are preparing for industrial action, describing the claims as false and misleading.

The clarification followed a meeting between the council’s management and leaders of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, NEPC Unit. Both parties said no strike had been authorised, discussed or contemplated and assured exporters and other stakeholders that the council’s operations remained uninterrupted.

NEPC also denied allegations concerning the appointment of directors, favouritism and nepotism. It said management was strengthening employees within the existing structure and prioritising internal capacity rather than outsourcing responsibilities.

The council said more than 75 per cent of its workforce had received professional training since 2023. It also highlighted the Export Skills Acquisition Centre, which has trained more than 500 youths and women, and its certification support for over 150 exporters seeking access to premium international markets.

NEPC linked the reforms to Nigeria’s reported record non oil export earnings of $6.1 billion in 2025 and reaffirmed its commitment to industrial harmony and continued growth in the export sector.
