The Federal Government has launched the Renewed Hope Students Leaders Engagement and Digital Acceleration Programme to strengthen the employability, entrepreneurial capacity and technological competence of Nigerian students.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, Sunday Daya, unveiled the South East edition of the initiative in Enugu under the theme, Empowering Students With Digital Skills and Innovation.

Daya said the administration considers Nigeria’s youthful population one of the country’s most valuable assets and is developing programmes that give young people the skills and platforms required to succeed in the modern economy.

He explained that the programme would improve communication between government and student leaders while exposing participants to emerging technologies and digital opportunities. Areas highlighted include artificial intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity, software development and digital marketing.

Daya said Nigerian students should not remain only consumers of technology. He urged them to become creators, innovators and entrepreneurs capable of building solutions and expanding the country’s digital economy.

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Udeh, also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing a generation of technologically empowered young Nigerians. He said the programme was designed to prepare participants for opportunities beyond traditional salaried employment.
