Tinubu Reaffirms Dissolution of Committee on Federal Property Sales

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed the dissolution of the presidential implementation committee overseeing the sale and lease of federal government properties, directing that the Attorney General of the Federation now coordinate all matters previously handled by the committee.

According to a statement from presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the committee, originally established in 2000 under former President Olusegun Obasanjo to oversee privatization and leasing of federal landed assets under the government’s monetization policy, had its activities extend well beyond its original mandate over the years, resulting in multiple lawsuits nationwide. The government said the committee’s continued existence was no longer justified, and directed that its former secretary cease acting on its behalf, with all related matters now coordinated by Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi.
