Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has named newly constructed government buildings after three former governors, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Chief Ayodele Fayose and Segun Oni, regardless of their differing political affiliations, in what his office described as a gesture of inclusive governance.
According to a statement from the governor’s media adviser, Olayinka Oyebode, the buildings honoring Fayemi and Fayose will be commissioned on July 31 and August 3 respectively, while the facility named for Oni will be inaugurated in October. All three former governors are expected to attend and personally commission the structures bearing their names.
The move follows Oyebanji’s earlier decision to rename the state’s Presidential Lodge after Ekiti’s first civilian governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, meaning all four living former governors of the state have now had major facilities named in their honor under the current administration.
