The Kebbi State Government has dismissed allegations that it has abandoned communities affected by banditry and terrorism, describing the claims as false and politically motivated.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, the government said recent reports circulating in some quarters, particularly by opposition figures, misrepresented its ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity across the state.
The statement stressed that security operations are highly sensitive and that not every strategy, intelligence-gathering effort or operational action can be made public.
According to the government, the absence of public announcements on security activities should not be interpreted as inaction.
“The fact that certain actions are not publicly announced does not mean that nothing is being done,” the statement said.
The government reaffirmed that Governor Nasir Idris remains fully committed to protecting lives and property, noting that he is actively coordinating efforts to address security challenges in collaboration with security agencies and other relevant stakeholders.
It added that the administration is working to create a secure environment that will enable residents to carry out their daily activities without fear, while ensuring that farmers can safely return to their farmlands.
The statement emphasized that restoring peace and stability remains one of the administration’s top priorities.
The government also cautioned against politicising security issues, saying the complex nature of the challenge requires collaboration, intelligence sharing, strategic planning and operational confidentiality rather than public speculation.
It urged political actors and members of the public to exercise restraint in their comments and avoid spreading narratives capable of undermining ongoing security efforts.
“The people of Kebbi State deserve facts, not sensationalism,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its commitment to lasting peace, the state government said it would continue to support security agencies and deploy all lawful measures within its constitutional powers to combat insecurity, protect communities and promote sustainable development across Kebbi State.
