Bolanle Austen Peters Productions has announced the London debut of its acclaimed stage play Dear Kaffy: Diary of a Single Woman, part of its continued push to bring contemporary African stories to the global stage, with performances at the Shaw Theatre in London from August 7 to 9, 2026, twice daily at 3pm and 7pm.
Following successful runs in Lagos and South Africa, the production makes its United Kingdom premiere, bringing what producers describe as an authentic, witty and emotionally compelling Nigerian story to international audiences. At the heart of the play is Kikelomo Olota, known as Kike, a successful 35 year old woman navigating love, family expectations, self discovery and societal pressure in contemporary Lagos. As Kike journeys through a series of relationships, she finds herself torn between meeting societal expectations and pursuing the life she truly desires, a statement said, through humour, heartbreak, music and introspection, the play explores universal themes of identity, womanhood, love and authenticity, resonating with audiences worldwide, particularly within the African diaspora, who see reflected the challenge many women face balancing personal ambition, cultural expectation and the pursuit of happiness.
Produced by BAP Productions, the company founded by Bolanle Austen Peters, Dear Kaffy joins a growing portfolio of internationally acclaimed work, including Saro the Musical, Wakaa! The Musical, Fela and the Kalakuta Queens, Motherland The Musical and Death and the King’s Horseman, productions that have earned the company a reputation for redefining Nigeria’s theatre landscape. The London run marks another milestone in the company’s international expansion and reinforces its commitment to taking African narratives to prestigious global stages.
