The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has inaugurated a new 12-member Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), as part of efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity within the Commission.
Representing the Managing Director/CEO, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, the Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Alabo (Hon.) Boma Iyaye, Esq., DSSRS, said strong internal controls and sound financial management were essential to good governance and to sustaining public trust in the Commission.
Speaking on behalf of the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Mrs. Ekere Usiere urged the new committee to work closely with NDDC management to promote accountability, strengthen internal controls, and uphold fairness, objectivity, and due process in the discharge of its duties.
The event also featured a handover ceremony, with outgoing ACTU Chairman, Victor Arenyeka, Esq., formally passing the baton to the incoming Chairman, Deinma Ebong, Esq., following the swearing-in of the new committee members and the presentation of the ACTU Standing Order.
Officials said the inauguration underscores the Commission’s continued commitment to ethical governance and transparency as it pursues sustainable development across the Niger Delta region.
