2027 Hyundai Elantra Debuts With Futuristic Redesign, Smarter Technology

Busan, South Korea — Hyundai has unveiled the all-new 2027 Elantra, introducing a dramatic redesign and a host of advanced technology upgrades that give the compact sedan a bold, futuristic identity.

The new model, revealed as the Avante at the 2026 Busan International Mobility Show in South Korea, marks the first full redesign of Hyundai’s popular sedan since 2021. The U.S.-market Elantra is expected to arrive in 2027 after the Avante goes on sale in South Korea later this year.

Bold Exterior Styling

Hyundai has completely reimagined the Elantra’s appearance, adopting a sharper and more angular design language inspired by futuristic concepts.

The front fascia features a redesigned grille with a pronounced angular profile, replacing the broader opening of the outgoing model. Slim vertical LED headlights seamlessly blend into the bodywork, giving the sedan a striking, high-tech appearance.

The side profile has also been extensively revised. The previous generation’s distinctive Z-shaped body lines have been replaced with cleaner, straighter creases, while more muscular front and rear fenders enhance the vehicle’s athletic stance.

A blacked-out B-pillar creates the illusion of a continuous glasshouse, while the body-coloured C-pillar separates the rear side window from a small triangular quarter glass. Completing the aggressive styling are newly designed five-spoke alloy wheels with a star-inspired pattern.

At the rear, Hyundai retains the Elantra’s signature integrated ducktail spoiler but sharpens its edges. The taillights mirror the front lighting signature, combining vertical elements on both sides with a full-width horizontal light bar across the trunk for a modern finish.

Technology-Focused Cabin

Inside, Hyundai has overhauled the cabin with a cleaner layout and a stronger emphasis on digital technology.

A larger central touchscreen dominates the dashboard, while the traditional instrument cluster has been replaced with a slimmer digital display positioned closer to the windshield. The setup is powered by Hyundai’s latest Pleos Connect infotainment platform, which introduces improved connectivity features and an AI-powered virtual assistant known as Gleo.

The gear selector has been relocated behind the steering wheel, freeing up additional storage space in the centre console. Although the cabin features fewer physical controls than before, Hyundai has retained dedicated buttons for key climate and media functions, offering easier access while driving.

Powertrain Options

The 2027 Elantra will continue to offer both gasoline and hybrid powertrains.

The standard model retains the familiar 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 147 horsepower. Buyers opting for the hybrid variant will receive a newly developed 1.6-litre engine paired with a dual-motor hybrid system, delivering a combined output of 155 horsepower.

Hyundai has yet to announce whether performance-oriented N Line or Elantra N versions will join the lineup, though enthusiasts are expected to be watching closely for future updates.

Launch Timeline

Sales of the Avante will begin in South Korea before the end of 2026, while the redesigned 2027 Hyundai Elantra is expected to arrive in the U.S. market sometime next year, bringing its futuristic styling and upgraded technology to a wider audience.
