The Delta State Government has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that former Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, has died, describing the claim as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Ossai Ovie Success said he received several inquiries from concerned members of the public seeking clarification on the report.
According to him, he immediately contacted members of the former governor’s family to verify the claim. He disclosed that he spoke directly with Uduaghan’s daughter, Orode Uduaghan, who confirmed that the report was untrue.
“Dr. Uduaghan is alive,” the statement emphasized.
Ossai condemned the circulation of unverified information, describing the spread of false reports about an individual’s death as irresponsible and harmful.
He noted that such misinformation could cause unnecessary distress to family members, friends, associates, and the people of Delta State who hold the former governor in high esteem.
The media aide urged the public to disregard the rumour and refrain from sharing unverified information on social media and other platforms.
He also called on citizens to exercise caution and verify information from credible sources before disseminating it, stressing the importance of responsible communication in the digital age.
The statement reaffirmed that Dr. Uduaghan is in good health and urged the public to ignore the false reports of his death.
