Anambra Governor’s Wife Steps In After Boy Scalded by Caregiver, Vows to See Full Prosecution Through

Wife of Anambra State Governor Dr. Nonye Soludo has ordered the state Commissioner for Health to relocate a 10-year-old boy to a specialist facility and personally pledged to fund his full rehabilitation after the child was severely burned when his caregiver allegedly dropped melted plastic on his body in Awada Obosi near Onitsha.

Mrs. Soludo said she was deeply troubled by the incident and that no child deserved cruelty of that nature regardless of any offence. She called for the prosecution of all those connected with the attack, including the arrested suspect’s husband, and said she would personally follow the case to its conclusion to ensure that justice was served and that Anambra State’s zero-tolerance position on abuse was enforced in fact rather than in declaration.

She commended residents of Awada Obosi who had observed the child’s condition, intervened to help him, and handed the suspect and her husband to the police, describing their willingness to act as exactly the community vigilance that protecting children required. The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the couple remained in custody with investigation continuing ahead of prosecution.
