Mixed Reactions Follow Baba Ijesha and Wife Luminee’s Baby Announcement

Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, and his wife, Anjy Luminee, have welcomed a baby boy, a joyous milestone that has sparked both congratulatory messages and renewed public debate on social media.

The couple announced the birth of their son on Tuesday, drawing warm wishes from fans, colleagues, and well-wishers across various platforms. However, the announcement also reignited discussions surrounding the actor’s past legal controversies.

Among those who celebrated the news was social media personality Bobrisky, whose congratulatory message quickly attracted criticism from some online users. Actress Moyo Lawal also faced backlash after extending her congratulations to the family, with critics questioning her support for the couple.

Others, however, defended the actress, arguing that offering congratulations on the birth of a child should not be viewed as an endorsement of past events.

Reality TV star Angel Smith joined the conversation, expressing surprise that Luminee remained married to Baba Ijesha despite the controversies that have surrounded him in recent years. Social media commentator Daniel Regha also weighed in, suggesting that Luminee should have reconsidered the marriage following the actor’s legal challenges.

Despite the criticism, several figures in the entertainment industry publicly celebrated the couple’s new arrival. Actor Yomi Fabiyi, actress Olayinka Solomon, and other supporters sent congratulatory messages and prayers for the family.

The development has generated widespread reactions online, with opinions sharply divided between those focused on celebrating the birth of the child and those who believe the actor’s past should remain part of the public conversation.

Baba Ijesha’s legal history continues to attract attention years after the case first made headlines. In 2022, a Lagos State High Court sentenced the actor to 16 years imprisonment following his conviction in a case involving the sexual assault of a minor. However, the conviction was later overturned by the Court of Appeal, resulting in his release from custody in November 2025.

The couple has yet to respond to the ongoing debate, choosing instead to focus on celebrating the arrival of their newborn son.
