Prince George to Attend Eton College, Following Royal Family Tradition

Britain’s Prince George will attend Eton College, one of the United Kingdom’s most prestigious private schools, continuing a long-standing family tradition that includes his father, Prince William, and uncle, Prince Harry.

Kensington Palace confirmed on Tuesday that the 12-year-old royal will begin his studies at Eton in September. The announcement ends months of speculation about where the future king would continue his education.

Located in Berkshire, near Windsor, Eton College is an elite boarding school for boys aged 13 to 18. The institution admits approximately 270 students each year and is widely regarded as one of Britain’s leading independent schools.

The school has educated generations of influential figures, including 20 British prime ministers. Among its notable alumni are former Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and David Cameron, as well as actors Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston.

For the 2025/26 academic year, annual fees at Eton stand at £63,298.80 (approximately $84,900). The school operates exclusively as a full-boarding institution, meaning students live on campus throughout the academic term.

Despite boarding at the school, Prince George will remain close to his family. Eton is located about 3.5 miles from the Wales family residence, Forest Lodge, in Windsor Great Park.

Prince George, the eldest child of Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, is second in line to the British throne. He will celebrate his 13th birthday in July before starting at Eton later this year.

His father attended the school beginning in 1995, while Prince Harry enrolled in 1998, making George the latest member of the royal family to follow the well-established educational path.
