The people of Ozalla Community in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State have endorsed Governor Peter Mbah for a second term in office, following a large-scale thank-you visit to his country home in Owo, Nkanu East Local Government Area.
The visit, which drew traditional rulers, political leaders, government officials, cultural groups, and stakeholders from the five autonomous communities of Ozalla, was described as both a gesture of appreciation and a reaffirmation of longstanding community ties.
Leaders of the delegation said the endorsement followed what they described as the governor’s visible developmental strides and inclusive governance since assuming office.
Speaking on behalf of the community, President General of the Ozalla Development Union (ODU), Chief Obiora Okwuibe, commended Governor Mbah for what he called transformative projects and strategic political inclusion of indigenes of the community in key government positions.
He highlighted the appointment of Dr. Kingsley Tochi Udeh, SAN, who has served as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice before his elevation to Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, as well as other appointments including Dan Nwomeh, Prof. Uchenna Agu, and Francis Aninwike.
The community also praised ongoing and completed infrastructure projects in the area, including the Smart Green School, the Type II Primary Healthcare Centre, the renovation of the old Ozalla Health Centre, and the Ituku–Ishi Ozalla road project.
However, Okwuibe appealed for urgent government intervention on internal road networks, noting that while major federal highways pass through the community, many connecting roads within villages and farmlands remain in poor condition.
“Beyond these major highways, the internal road network linking our autonomous communities, villages, and farmlands remains in a severely dilapidated condition,” he said, urging the governor to address the issue.
In a major political statement, the community declared full support for Governor Mbah’s re-election bid in 2027, pledging mobilization for massive voter turnout.
“We commit ourselves to full political mobilisation across our community, ensuring massive voter turnout and delivering overwhelming support for your re-election,” Okwuibe stated.
The delegation also expressed support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the appointment of their son into the Federal Executive Council reflected national inclusion and recognition.
Former Minister of Information, Chief Frank Nweke II, who also spoke at the event, said the endorsement reflected genuine satisfaction with the governor’s performance.
He described Governor Mbah’s leadership as visionary and results-driven, adding that Ozalla had begun to experience unprecedented government presence after years of neglect.
According to him, the governor has demonstrated strong capacity for execution, respect for public trust, and commitment to improving living standards across the state.
The visit ended with cultural performances and renewed assurances of continued partnership between the community and the state government.
