Police Rescue Ex-Minister Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons from Kidnappers, Neutralise Two Suspects

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a late-night operation that led to a gun battle with suspected kidnappers.

The rescue operation was carried out at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, according to police sources.

Two suspected members of the kidnapping gang were reportedly killed during an exchange of gunfire with security operatives, while two firearms were recovered from the scene.

Mrs. John-Paul, who is the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her children were abducted on June 3 while on their way to school.

Sources familiar with the operation said sustained intelligence gathering, tracking efforts and tactical pressure mounted by security agencies forced the kidnappers into a confrontation with police operatives, ultimately leading to the successful rescue of the victims.

The victims were recovered alive and are reported to be safe following the operation.

Police authorities have launched a manhunt for other members of the kidnapping syndicate who fled the scene. Security operatives are currently conducting search operations in surrounding areas, with indications that some of the fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter.

The rescue marks another breakthrough in ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat kidnapping and violent crime across the country.
