First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Launches Torchbearers Group, Donates Vehicles to Women Leaders in Five Opposition States

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the president, has inaugurated the Tinubu Torchbearers, a nationwide support group established to mobilize grassroots backing for the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his 2027 reelection campaign, while donating personal vehicles to APC women leaders in five states where the party is not currently in power.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Abuja, the First Lady praised the conduct of the APC’s recently concluded primaries as evidence that the party had distinguished itself by promoting internal democracy and resolving disagreements through peaceful means. She said the APC had shown the rest of the country that politics could be played without rancour or bitterness.

She announced vehicles for APC women leaders in Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Osun, and Oyo states, specifying that the vehicles would be delivered before the end of the week and registered in the personal names of the women leaders rather than in the party’s name. She urged all 31 APC governors to emulate the gesture by providing vehicles and support to women leaders in their respective states.

She described the Tinubu Torchbearers as a strategic vehicle for promoting national unity, civic participation, and the continuity of the Renewed Hope Agenda, and urged members to serve as ambassadors of the administration by communicating government policies responsibly while maintaining civility in political engagements. APC National Women Leader Dr. Mary Alile Idele said the Torchbearers had already established structures in all 774 local government areas, positioning the organisation as a formidable grassroots network. She described the administration’s policies as laying the foundation for sustainable economic growth and commended President Tinubu for courage and determination in pursuing economic reforms despite challenging inherited conditions
