Liverpool Reach Agreement in Principle to Appoint Andoni Iraola as New Manager

Liverpool Football Club have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to appoint Andoni Iraola as their new manager following successful negotiations, according to reports from transfer insiders.

The former AFC Bournemouth boss has emerged as Liverpool’s preferred candidate after the departure of Arne Slot following an end-of-season review of the club’s campaign.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development on Tuesday, stating that an agreement has been reached and that Iraola is set to lead Liverpool’s next chapter at Anfield.

“Breaking: Liverpool reach agreement in principle to appoint Andoni Iraola, here we go. Exclusive story confirmed, Arne Slot left and Iraola will lead the LFC project,” Romano posted on X.

Iraola enhanced his reputation in the Premier League after guiding Bournemouth to a sixth-place finish and securing the club’s first-ever qualification for European competition. His impressive achievements reportedly made him Liverpool’s top managerial target.

The 43-year-old Spaniard is understood to have moved ahead of other candidates, including Sebastian Hoeneß and Pierre Sage, who were also considered during the selection process.

Reports suggest Liverpool moved quickly to secure their preferred choice following Slot’s exit, with the club keen to establish stability ahead of preparations for the new season.

There have also been claims that former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp was consulted during the decision-making process. However, the club has not officially commented on the reports.

Discussions are said to be continuing regarding Iraola’s backroom staff, with expectations that he will bring in members of his own coaching team once the appointment is formally confirmed.

If finalised, Iraola’s arrival would usher in a new era at Liverpool FC as the Premier League giants seek to rebuild and challenge for major honours under fresh leadership.
