APC Primary Winners Raise Alarm Over Delayed Certificates of Return

Winners of recently concluded All Progressives Congress primary elections have raised concern over the delay in the issuance of their Certificates of Return, saying the situation was generating uncertainty and unease within party ranks despite the announcement of results by designated election committees.

Aspirants who spoke anonymously said differing interpretations of party guidelines on the ratification of primary election outcomes had contributed to the delay, and called on the party leadership to provide clarity and ensure transparent handling of post-primary administrative processes.

One of the winners said that while primaries had been conducted and results formally announced by the relevant committees, the withholding of certificates had raised legitimate questions that needed to be addressed before the uncertainty hardened into tension.

“We took part in the primaries and winners emerged through the processes conducted by the party committees. However, many of us are still awaiting our Certificates of Return, and we believe clarity is needed to avoid unnecessary tension,” the aspirant said.

Other winners drew comparisons with the Certificate of Return already presented to President Bola Tinubu following the presidential primary, arguing that successful aspirants at all levels deserved consistent and timely recognition in line with established party guidelines. They urged the party leadership to ensure that all successful candidates were formally acknowledged without further delay.
