Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, urging citizens to embrace faith, sacrifice, unity and hope during the celebration.
In a message released to commemorate the Islamic festival, Obi described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred occasion that reflects enduring values such as obedience to God, compassion, love for humanity and commitment to the common good.
He called on Nigerians to use the Sallah period to focus on prayers for national unity and renewed hope amid the country’s social and economic challenges.
According to Obi, the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir remain especially relevant as Nigeria navigates what he described as a critical period in its national journey.
“Nigeria is a nation of immense potential, currently weighed down by avoidable challenges, but the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir teaches us that after sacrifice comes fulfilment,” he said.
The former Anambra State governor urged citizens not to lose hope in the possibility of building a functional, just and productive country where all Nigerians can thrive.
He also called for prayers for security personnel battling insecurity across the country, wisdom for political leaders and economic relief for citizens facing hardship.
Obi further encouraged Nigerians to recommit themselves to peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and unity across religious and regional lines.
He expressed hope that the celebration would bring joy to families, peace to communities and renewed optimism for the nation.
“I wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters a blessed and joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration,” Obi stated.
