Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have recorded major operational successes across the North-East theatre, including the neutralisation of terrorists, rescue of abducted victims, and recovery of arms, ammunition, and explosive devices.
The operations, conducted under Operation DESERT SANITY and related missions, also led to the arrest of suspected criminal collaborators and armed robbery suspects.
According to military authorities, troops supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force carried out coordinated offensives in the Valle, Ashigashiya, and Gakara general areas, where they engaged suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in fierce gun battles.
During the encounters, two insurgents were neutralised, while several others reportedly fled towards the Ngoshe axis. Troops later cleared the area without recording casualties among security personnel.
In a separate operation along the Bravo Kilo 10 axis, troops intercepted suspected terrorists and neutralised one insurgent. Security forces recovered a radio set and a mobile phone from the scene.
The military also recorded breakthroughs in rescue operations. Troops operating along the Ngoshe–Amuda corridor rescued an eight-year-old boy identified as Abubakar Mublagha, who had been abducted during the March 3, 2026 attack on Ngoshe community. The child was medically evaluated and reunited with his family.
Similarly, troops operating around Uvaha village along the Gwoza–Limankara axis rescued a 20-year-old Fulani man, Dahiru Ahamdu, who had been abducted by terrorists.
The victim reportedly escaped after heavy artillery bombardments by troops struck insurgent camps, killing two terrorists and causing panic within the hideout. He disclosed that he was kidnapped on May 8, 2026, while grazing cattle in Bororo village, Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, before being taken to a terrorist enclave in the Mandara Mountains.
Military authorities confirmed that the rescued victim received medical attention before being reunited with his family through community leaders.
In another operation, troops deployed in Buni Gari recovered a cache of explosives abandoned by fleeing insurgents in the Magza area following credible intelligence reports.
Recovered items included four 40mm RPG bombs, one 81mm mortar bomb, and four 60mm mortar bombs, all of which were secured by Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams.
The military also arrested a suspected collaborator identified as Kuti Muhammad, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force, over alleged links to terrorist groups. He is currently in custody for further investigation.
Meanwhile, troops responding to a reported armed robbery incident in Garin Gwigwi village, Biu Local Government Area, arrested three suspects identified as Aliyu Mamadu, Umar Mohammed, and Adamu Aliyu.
Recovered items from the suspects included mobile phones, suspected illicit substances, charms, jewellery, cash, a dagger, a Quran booklet, and a locally made firearm.
Military authorities reiterated their commitment to sustaining aggressive operations aimed at restoring peace and security across the North-East region.
