Atiku’s Aide Confirms Former Vice President Seriously Pursuing 2027 Presidential Bid

A media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has confirmed that the former vice president was actively preparing for another presidential contest in 2027, saying he was currently engaging leaders, stakeholders, and members of the African Democratic Congress to assess the viability of his candidacy.

Paul Ibeh made the confirmation in a post on social media platform X while responding to a direct question from human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong about whether Atiku was genuinely serious about a 2027 bid. Ibeh said that once Atiku emerged as the ADC’s presidential candidate, he would need the support of Nigerians across the country to defeat President Tinubu and the ruling APC administration.

The aide used a forest metaphor to frame the coalition-building challenge, saying no individual, however prominent, could constitute a political force alone without the support of allies large and small, and asked whether Nigerians were prepared to work together for political change.
