UK Court Jails Driver for Smuggling Cocaine Hidden in Kim Kardashian Brand Shipment

A United Kingdom court has sentenced a Polish truck driver to 13 years and six months in prison for smuggling cocaine worth more than £7 million hidden inside a shipment of clothing belonging to Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand, Skims.

According to the National Crime Agency (NCA), the driver, Jakub Jan Konkel, was caught transporting 90 kilograms of cocaine concealed within specially modified compartments in the rear doors of a lorry.

The vehicle was reportedly carrying 28 pallets of Skims clothing products when it was intercepted by UK border officials after arriving in eastern England from the Netherlands in September last year.

Investigators said the truck had been specially altered to include hidden storage compartments inside the trailer doors where the illegal drugs were concealed.

In a statement released on Monday, the NCA said organised criminal networks frequently rely on compromised drivers to transport Class A drugs while disguising them within legitimate commercial shipments.

NCA operations manager Paul Orchard said the operation prevented a significant quantity of cocaine from reaching the streets and disrupted the criminal group behind the smuggling attempt.

“Organised crime groups use corrupt drivers like Konkel to move Class A drugs often hidden on entirely legitimate loads such as this,” Orchard said.

He added that the seizure had deprived the criminal network of substantial profits and removed a key operative involved in the trafficking operation.

Authorities did not indicate any involvement by the Skims brand or its owners in the smuggling case.
