Sanwo-Olu Backs Professional Standards Drive in Nigeria’s Events Industry

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote professionalism, skills development, and quality standards in Nigeria’s event management industry, describing the sector as a significant driver of economic activity and a critical component of Lagos’s social and cultural landscape.

The governor spoke during a courtesy visit by the Association of Professional Party Organizers and Event Managers of Nigeria, commending the association for its efforts to organize and professionalize a sector that he said needed to maintain high standards, prioritize safety, build competence, and embrace continuous training to sustain growth and earn public confidence.

Association President Ayiri Oladunmoye introduced the organization and outlined its mission of promoting excellence, ethics, capacity development, and regulation among event planners, decorators, caterers, rental companies, and other stakeholders across the event ecosystem. She said the association was committed to building a structured and globally competitive industry capable of contributing significantly to employment generation, tourism, and economic development. The governor was presented with an award of excellence during the visit in recognition of his support for the creative and hospitality sectors.
