The Delta State Government has announced plans to upgrade its Staff Training Centre to meet international standards comparable to those of Singapore as part of efforts to strengthen capacity building and improve public service delivery.
The Head of Service of Delta State, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji, disclosed this while declaring open a two-day workshop on “Digital Transformation, Electronic Records Management and E-Governance 101” in Asaba.
According to her, the state government is committed to transforming the Staff Training Centre into a world-class institution capable of driving efficiency and innovation in the public service.
Dr. Oseji noted that administrative processes must evolve in line with the realities of a technology-driven society, stressing that the workshop was organised to bridge the gap between traditional bureaucratic systems and the digital future envisioned for the state.
She urged participants to see the training as an opportunity for professional development and ensure that the knowledge acquired translates into practical reforms across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The Head of Service also encouraged public servants to actively engage facilitators, embrace innovation, and confidently adopt digital tools that would enhance service delivery and institutional efficiency.
She commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his continued moral and financial support towards reforms in the state civil service, noting that his administration remained committed to improving productivity and performance in government institutions.
In his welcome address, the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Establishments and Pensions, Mr. Kingsley Olomukoro, said the workshop was designed to equip public servants with the skills needed to transition from manual operations to digital systems.
He explained that improved electronic records management and e-governance practices would strengthen institutional memory, promote transparency and accountability, reduce operational costs, and enhance overall public service delivery.
The workshop featured presentations by resource persons including Mrs. Eunice Apu, Mrs. Nwabunwane, and Mr. Ngozi Nwosa, who delivered lectures on e-governance implementation, digitisation of public records, emerging technologies in governance, and performance monitoring and evaluation.
Other dignitaries present at the event included Director of the Staff Training Centre, Mrs. Louisa Modebe; Director of Training, Directorate of Establishments and Pensions, Mrs. Maria Adheke; and Assistant Director of Studies, Mr. Sunday Enubunihi.
