King Charles III to Visit 9/11 Memorial in New York During US State Visit

Britain’s monarch, King Charles III, is scheduled to attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum on Wednesday, as part of his ongoing state visit to the United States.

The visit to New York marks the third day of a four-day tour aimed at strengthening ties between the United Kingdom and the United States amid recent diplomatic tensions. Charles, accompanied by Queen Camilla, will meet with first responders and families of victims, nearly 25 years after the September 11, 2001 attacks that claimed about 3,000 lives.

Addressing the US Congress earlier in the visit, the King described the attacks as a defining moment for America and expressed continued solidarity. “We stood with you then, and we stand with you now,” he said, calling for unity among Western nations.

Beyond the memorial event, the monarch is expected to visit a sustainable urban farming initiative in New York that supports youth development and addresses food insecurity—an area aligned with his longstanding advocacy for environmental and community causes.

Meanwhile, Queen Camilla will attend a separate engagement at the New York Public Library to mark the 100th anniversary of Winnie the Pooh, where she is expected to present a commemorative gift.

The royal itinerary also includes a business engagement where King Charles will interact with investors and entrepreneurs to promote transatlantic economic cooperation.

The state visit began in Washington, where the monarch was received by Donald Trump, and comes at a time of strained relations between both countries over foreign policy issues, including the Iran conflict.

The visit will conclude with an event highlighting the work of The King’s Trust, focusing on youth empowerment and celebrating cultural ties between the UK and the US.
