Akpoti-Uduaghan Declares Second Term Bid

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has formally declared her intention to seek a second term in the Senate, responding to sustained grassroots pressure and widespread endorsements from constituents across the five local government areas of her senatorial district who urged her to continue her legislative work on their behalf.

Her declaration was made at a Kogi Central Peoples Democratic Party stakeholders’ meeting, where the senator told gathered party leaders and supporters that she had accepted their calls to contest for another term following persistent appeals from her constituents and encouragement from her family.

“After due consultations and encouragement from my lovely husband, I have accepted your calls to re-contest for my second term as your senator,” she said, acknowledging the wave of endorsements from community leaders and party members that had built steadily over months of political consultation.

Akpoti-Uduaghan used the declaration occasion to call for unity within the PDP, urging members to prioritise reconciliation and the closing of internal divisions as the party prepared for future electoral contests. She stressed that the current moment required all members to come together rather than allow disagreements to weaken the party’s competitiveness.

“This is the time to bring everyone back home. We must reconcile with those who may have had one issue or another, for the betterment of our party and the success of our elections ahead,” she said, signalling an intent to play a unifying role within the party structure as she built her re-election campaign.
